The Soil Association offers a wide-ranging programme of training events, seminars and farm walks for producers and processors. Our events cover:
- Technical training
- Marketing skills
- Farm walks
Our events usually consist of a technical session in the morning given by experts on the relevant subject of the day, followed by a farm walk in the afternoon. An organic lunch is normally included and offers a good opportunity to chat and share knowledge with other farmers, growers, processors and retailers attending the event.
When planning our programme we always include a broad range of expert speakers from the organic sector, and the majority of our courses include a visit to a farm or site that displays excellent examples of best practice.
Please book early to be sure of a place as some venues have a limited capacity. Producer members and licensees of Soil Association Certification Ltd are eligible for reduced rates.
Booking and prices
Advance booking is required for all food and farming department events. Call 0117 914 2400. Unless indicated otherwise, the cost for events is:
- £38 (£44.65 including VAT) for Soil Association producer members or Soil Association Certification Ltd licensees or
- £50 (£58.75 including VAT) for non-members
Payment You may pay by credit card over the phone on 0117 914 2400. It is helpful if the full name and address of all attendees is supplied so that badges and delegate lists can be produced. Confirmation of booking, directions and a programme will normally be sent out to delegates 10 days before an event.
Cancellation Where a delegate cancels their booking at least seven days before an event, we are able to offer a refund of 80% of the booking fee. The full fee is payable for places cancelled after this time.

A new post graduate course in Agri-Environmental Policy Analysis
Presently, the EU Common Agricultural Policy is facing far reaching reforms. These changes include significant extension of agri-environmantal policies within the framework of the Rural Development Programme. A large number of policy makers, advisors, and consultants are involved in agri-environmental policies throughout the member states. With the double aim of improving skills in policy design and implementation, as well as facilitating international networking among professionals, we offer a part time, post graduate course in "Agri-Environmental Policy Analysis" for the spring 2008.
